I have carved many custom design walking sticks
with many different themes. Below are some examples of my
work.

Timber
Rattler
This was done as
a gift to an Army platoon leader who used it as a pointer
for large maps when instructing training ops. I was
asked to make it very large and very intimidating. The snake
carving itself was a bit larger than life - it was carved of
basswood, and attached to a natural maple
shaft. |

Terrapin
Station
This unusual stick
was done for the birthday of Tom, a close friend of
mine. Tom is a fan of the Grateful Dead (a rock band,
for those of you who aren't familiar). One of his
favorite GD albums is Terrapin Station. The cover art
depicts two tortoises ( terrapins) singing, dancing, and
playing instruments on the queue of a train station. I
used one of these guys as inspiration for this piece.
Also carved on the shaft is a sample of lyrics from the title
cut:
"Inspiration, move me
brightly. Light the song with sense and color; hold away
despair..."
The top was carved of
mahogany, and the shaft of
basswood. |

Lord
Jesus
This stick was carved
for Jim, a fellow friend and Christian as a gift to his wife
Lexi for Valentine's Day. There is also scripture
inscribed on a scroll that wraps around Jesus'
figure:
"Who can find a
virtuous woman, for her price is far above rubies....Favour is
deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that fears the
Lord, she shall be praised." Proverbs
31:10, 31:30
The top is carved of
butternut, and is attached to a natural white birch shaft.
Ruby red glass beads adorn the juction point of the two
different woods.

Owls
Someone was interested in an owl - themed walking
stick, and this is the result.
The top was carved of basswood and was
painted. It was then attached to a natural white birch
shaft. |

Borzoi
This stick was
carved for Chet, a man very passionate for
the Borzoi breed, otherwise known as the Russion
Wolfhound.
The top was carved of basswood, and was attached to a
natural white birch shaft. The junction was enhanced by
sandwiching mahogany and black walnut
together.
